I'm so excited to have finally replace my old cracked 3000 Sound Edge Hats with these beautiful new 14" Paiste Signature Sound Edge Hi-Hats...heaven!!

The "Rando" Tour...

We are halfway through the Randy Smith/8084 mini-tour and are having a blast! It's great to shar the stage with my old 8084 band mates. It's also been great seeing so many faces from the past and I want to thank everyone so much for coming out to the shows!

Gary to record and tour with ex-8084 singer Randy Smith!

I recorded drums tracks this week for my former 8084 band mate, Randy Smith. As you know, Randy left 8084 in the summer of 2006 to head south to a warmer climate. He's been working on his first solo CD and has asked me to play drums on this release.

Two nights were spent at West Street Digital in Fairfiled, VT with Andre Maquera at the board. We spent a lot of time getting it all "just right" and the tracks are "in the can"!

Also, dates for an August mini-tour of New England are firming up. Looks for shows in Burlington and White River Jct., VT as well as Boston and Shelburne Falls, MA (Randy's home town) with a guest appearnce by Elizabeth Perkins, one of Randy's classmates from high school as well as New England drummer and producer Hirsh Gardner.

I can also be heard on all of Keeghan Nolan's recordings from 2005 to date, Willard Way's "I Tried" and "Like I Never Loved You".

And of course can be heard on most of the 8084 recordings...

We Will Miss You Doug...

Our great friend Doug had recently passed. Below is his obituary from the Eagle Times out of Claremont, NH.

I knew Doug best as a fellow musician as well as a soundman. I've worked with him for several years and will miss him dearly. He had a very unique sense of humor that would always put a smile on my face and often times have me laughing so hard I would be in tears. CLAREMONT, NH -- Douglas S. Bashaw, 44, died Aug. 6, 2008, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Born Jan.16, 1964, in Springfield, Vt., he was the son of Carroll and Patricia (Roys) Bashaw.

Doug was best known throughout New Hampshire and Vermont as an accomplished musician and sound engineer. Doug was fierce in his commitment to music, a passion that can be traced to an early influence. Doug's father taught him to play a mandolin when he was just 3 years old. Doug enjoyed playing bass guitar and providing vocals in a number of bands over a period of more than 25 years including Block Party, Signature, Mistress, Shine and most recently Sun King.

Doug worked a variety of jobs in his lifetime, working as a truck driver with Uni-First in Lebanon, at the time of his death

Doug married Kelly Hood April 1, 2000. Surviving family members include his wife Kelly (Hood) Bashaw; daughter Kurstin Bashaw, of Charlestown, stepdaughter Teah (Hood) Ranney of Westminister West, Vt.; two stepgrandsons, Garrett and Sawyer; two sisters, Dianne Gage of Walpole and Donna Bashaw-Benvie of Charlestown; his parents of Charlestown; grandmother, Elmira Allen of Springfield; in-laws Jim and Gwen Hood of Saxtons River, Vt.; and brother-in-law Shawn Hood and Shawn's wife Debbie of Acworth. In addition, Doug's five nephews and one niece, with whom he enjoyed close relationships, survive along with several great nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle and many cousins. Also surviving is a myriad of friends that Doug insisted were a part of his family.

Calling hours will be held at Charlestown Memorial Chapel the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, Aug.13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will follow on Thursday, Aug.14, 2008, at the VFW Hall on Lovers Lane in Charlestown from 1 to 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Doug took great pride in his relationships with family and cultivated long-lasting friendships. He was extremely proud of his daughters and loved them deeply. Doug worked hard to support young adults interested in music and encouraged talent when he saw it. Doug worked in support of a variety of benefits throughout his career, providing both sound equipment and entertainment to raise money. Ever ready with a joke or comical story, Doug's gift of laughter and a contagious smile will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be held for a future date to support a benefit concert sponsoring a cause that reflects Doug's interests. Your participation and support would be much appreciated by the family.

Doug died on a motorcycle of injuries that were surely sustained as a result of not wearing a helmet, a momentary lapse in judgment that cost him his life. Normally a helmet user, he perhaps as a matter of convenience, did not put his helmet on for what he perceived as a quick five-minute trip. Doug's family is united in their belief that helmets are essential when using motor and recreation vehicles as well as bicycles and rollerblades. The family urges the responsible use of helmets, no matter how short the trip.

The Lincoln Inn ROCKED!

Last Saturday's gig at the Lincoln In in Essex Jct., VT ROCKED!! I'm sorry if you missed it but don't let it happen again! LOL!! Aram was his usual "spot on" self and was such a joy to be playing along side of. He is the best bass player I've ever worked with and I honestly don't know how it would be if he wasn't in Rumble Doll! So if you're reading this Aram, don't ever leave ok?

Frannie's Was Hoppin'

If you didn't make it to Frannie O's last Friday night you missed an awesome evening. The crowd was awesome and the band was on fire. If you haven't seem Rumble Doll you really should. Ryan on guitar, McKenna Lee on vocals and Aram Bedrosian on bass. I LOVE playing with Aram (everyone else too of course) as he is the most solid bass player I've ever worked with. In my opinion, Rumble Doll rocks! Come check us out!
